Aims of the German Association of Sugar Technologists
Our association was founded in 1891 under the name of Association of Academically Trained Sugar Technologists but since 1898 is called German Association of Sugar Technologists. Our aim is to promote the scientific, technical and practical work in the field by bringing together the chemists and engineers employed in and in support of the sugar industry for their mutual benefit. We also want to further the training of the next generation of technologists. We pursue these ends through
- Convocation of prize competitions and encouragement of experiments for the solution of important scientific and technical questions relevant to the sugar industry
- The award of prizes for valuable papers in the area of sugar manufacturing published in the journal Zuckerindustrie/Sugar Industry.
Regular membership in our association is open to all chemists and engineers employed in and in support of the sugar industry, provided that the applicant is interested in and prepared to contribute actively to the achievement of the association’s objectives.
